Can I customize the source of monitored data to provide insights and decision more suitable for static websites or dynamic websites?

To obtain data and actionable insights targeted to improve the performance of your static website or dynamic website, you need to collect and monitor data from the appropriate data feed.

It is recommended to collect and monitor performance data from the content delivery network in order to have data more suitable for static websites. On the other hand, it is recommended to collect and monitor performance data from the dynamic delivery network in order to have data more suitable for dynamic websites.

Refer to this article to learn more about the 2 types of delivery networks.

This article will show you how to customize the user’s data feed in order to collect and monitor performance data more suitable for either static websites or dynamic websites.

You can customize the data feed by navigating to ‘ DEM’ > ‘Data Feeds’.

You need to set the target domain from the ‘ Operation level panel’.

For now, there are 2 data feeds that are available.

  • Static Data Feed: This data feed collects data from the content delivery network, hence more suitable for gathering insights for static websites. The data from static data feed is called static data.
  • Dynamic Data Feed: This data feed collects data from the dynamic delivery network, hence more suitable for gathering insights for dynamic websites. The data from dynamic data feed is called dynamic data.

Static Data Feed

Select ‘Static’ to collect data from the content delivery network for your domain.

After that, the system will collect static data from the community data pool (hence the name, ‘Community static data’) of all the installed CDN of your domain.

The collected static data will be automatically used by the Smart Load Balancer to decide the best CDN. And the insights will be presented in the DEM Analytics.

Dynamic Data Feed

Select ‘Dynamic’ to collect data from the dynamic delivery network for your domain.

After that, the system will collect dynamic data from the community data pool (hence the name ‘Community dynamic data’) of the origin of your domain through a specific CDN of your domain.

The collected dynamic data will be automatically used by the Smart Load Balancer to decide the best CDN. And the insights will be presented in the DEM Analytics.
